The Casino Account Glossary

Casino sites write their own dictionary. Words like wagering and pending sit in grey text on pages you skim past, and you find out what they meant at withdrawal time, with your money stuck between the balance and the bank while support chat repeats the same sentence back to you.

Learning the vocabulary changes how you play. You spot a bonus worth claiming, you know which payout lands in two hours and which lands on Thursday, and you stop asking support questions that a terms page already answered. A dozen of these words decide whether your money arrives in an hour or in a fortnight.

The words on the deposit screen

Debit card. Visa and Mastercard deposits clear in seconds and cost you nothing, though your bank may ask for confirmation the first time you pay a new merchant. Credit cards do not appear at all. The Gambling Commission banned credit card gambling in April 2020, so a UK-licensed site showing a card field for deposits is not following UK rules, whatever its homepage says.

E-wallet. PayPal, Apple Pay and Google Pay fund a deposit from a balance you already hold. Your bank statement shows the wallet name rather than the casino's trading name, and the payout returns the same way, which helps when you want money back the same day.

Open banking. Trustly and similar services skip the wallet. You approve a payment inside your own banking app, the casino receives a confirmation, and no middle account holds the cash. Payouts through open banking land within a couple of hours at the operators that run them around the clock.

Paysafecard. You buy a 16-digit voucher for cash, enter the code, and the deposit leaves no entry on a bank statement. Paysafecard handles deposits and nothing else, so a win has to reach you through a bank account or a wallet, which means completing verification before you collect. Payout speed comes up more than any other topic in the player reviews at https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/kaazino.erthly.co.uk, so upload your documents before your first deposit rather than after your first win.

Bonus terms, translated

Wagering requirement. This number decides whether a bonus is worth claiming. A £10 bonus with a 35x requirement asks you to stake £350 before any of it converts to cash. Check what the multiplier applies to, because some sites count the bonus alone and others count the bonus plus your deposit, which doubles the total you have to work through.

Max bet. The cap on what you can stake while a bonus runs. Many operators set it at £5 a spin or lower. Break it once and the operator can void the bonus and every win attached to it. Expiry adds a clock: a bonus runs for seven or thirty days, and free spins you have not used vanish with it.

Free spins. Each spin carries a value, and a 10p spin is a different offer from a 50p spin even when the headline number matches. Spins come with their own wagering requirement, separate from the cash bonus. No-deposit offers pay a small amount with heavy conditions attached, which makes them a way to test a site's games and cashier rather than a route to a serious payout.

Licence language you should recognise

Every UK-licensed operator carries a licence number and a line naming the Gambling Commission as its regulator. You can match that number against the Commission's public register in a minute. A site showing a Curaçao or Malta licence instead is an offshore operation, and offshore means headline bonuses with no UK dispute process behind them. A payout complaint goes to a regulator in another jurisdiction that cannot order anyone to pay, which is the trade-off when you compare UK sites and offshore rivals.

White label means the brand you see holds no licence of its own. Another company holds it, runs the back end and answers for your balance, which is why two sites with different names can share one licence number. Licence status changes as well, and the Gambling Commission publishes each decision it makes. When withdrawals stop moving, you can read the reason in that list: the Commission suspends a licence, freezes the balances and works through the claims, so a licence getting suspended can stretch a two-day payout into a two-month wait.

Before you hand over your details

Opening an account takes minutes. The checks that protect you take about the same. You can run a licence check first, then read the withdrawal section of the terms rather than the welcome paragraph at the top, because the sentence naming a 48-hour processing window also names the exceptions to it.

Verification, or KYC, is the step nobody reads until it blocks a payment. A UK operator has to confirm your name, age and address before your first withdrawal, which takes a photo ID and a document showing where you live. Upload both at sign-up and you skip the wait, which is most of vetting a site properly.

Payout jargon

Pending describes a withdrawal the casino has received and not yet sent. The money leaves your balance, so you cannot stake it, and it has not reached your bank. Reverse withdrawal was the button that returned a pending payout to your balance. The Gambling Commission banned it in October 2020, so a UK site cannot let you cancel a request once you make it, and support staff cannot hand the money back. A site still offering that button holds a licence from somewhere else.

Processing time splits into two clocks: the operator's own turnaround and the payment provider's. An e-wallet payout lands in hours, a debit card refund takes up to three working days, and open banking sits between the two. A request made on Friday evening adds two days at operators that release payments on working days.

Numbers behind the games

RTP, or return to player, is a long-run percentage published for each game. A slot listed at 96% gives back £96 of every £100 staked across millions of spins, and the figure tells you nothing about your next twenty. Volatility describes how the wins arrive. Low volatility pays small amounts at a steady rate; high volatility goes quiet for long stretches and then pays a large sum. House edge is the same calculation from the operator's side, sitting in the gap between RTP and 100%.

Odds follow the same logic with more arithmetic attached. A price of 2.50 on a home win carries the bookmaker's view of the chance plus the margin built into it. Reading a big-match odds preview shows the working: two sets of numbers, the reasoning behind each, and a comparison of what different books offer on the same fixture.

Game terms worth knowing

Megaways, cluster pays and expanding reels name the way a slot builds its combinations, and each term signals the maths underneath. Three-reel classics keep the simplest paytable, and the appeal of retro slots for plenty of UK players comes down to that slower rhythm. Live dealer means a real table, a real croupier and a streamed feed with a betting timer on the screen.

Personalised lobby describes the front page that reshuffles itself around your play history. The site promotes the categories you return to, which helps you find a favourite game and narrows what you see at the same time. You can read how lobbies get personalised and switch the recommendations off in your account settings when the grid starts repeating itself.

Responsible gambling terms

Deposit limit caps what you can put into the account across a day, a week or a month. A UK operator has to apply the limit within 24 hours of your request and cannot raise it on your behalf. Time out locks the account for a set period, from 24 hours to six weeks, and it lifts when the period ends.

Self-exclusion closes the account for at least six months and holds you to a cooling-off period before you can reopen it. Registering with GamStop covers every UK-licensed operator at once, so one registration blocks all of them. BeGambleAware and GamCare run the support side, free and confidential. A reality check shows a message at intervals you set, with your session time on it.

Every term above sits in the terms page you accepted on the way to pressing deposit. Ten minutes with that page before your first payment saves an hour in a support queue, and it turns a headline offer into a figure you can hold next to the next one.
